Gumtreez Pub & Grill

I was really looking forward to returning to Gum Trees Pub and Grill, as my last visit was two years ago, and I had the best seafood pasta I’ve ever had. Unfortunately, my return visit was disappointing. The pasta was nowhere near as good as I remembered. There was noticeably less seafood, and the mussels were overcooked. It’s a shame because I had such a great experience before. I can only assume the chef has changed, or maybe I just came on the wrong day. Still, I hope they’ll get back to the quality I once enjoyed.

Great pub vibes. Service was excellent despite being packed, food was delish too. Highly recommend the snails and eisbein (eisbein so huge and crispy...oh my goodness)

We’re not from this area — we’re from the Lowveld — but while visiting the Highveld, we wanted to find something with a more local, laid-back vibe. Somewhere cozy where we could grab a bite to eat, enjoy a beer, and just relax on a Saturday afternoon. We ended up at Gumtree Plum and Grill, and wow — what a find! From the moment you walk in, you feel at home. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. There’s even a puppy on the bar and beautiful, colorful fish on the counter — such a fun, quirky touch that immediately makes you smile. The food? Absolutely worth it. The prices might look a bit steep at first, but the portions are huge and the quality is excellent. The shawarmas looked amazing, and the pizza we had (can’t remember the name!) was honestly one of the best — generous with toppings, especially the olives, and paired with a great chili sauce. What really stood out was the atmosphere. Everyone helps everyone — it’s not just one waiter serving your table; the whole team works together. The owner even came by to chat with us and introduced me to her pet rooster — who promptly fell asleep on my lap! It’s got that warm, family-run feel with animals wandering around, big screens for watching rugby, and plenty of space for kids. The vibe is pure Highveld hospitality — friendly, homely, and full of life. If you’re looking for that authentic, local, outback-style spot that the Lowveld and Highveld locals know and love, this is it. Highly, highly recommended!

In my three months time in the White River area, and after I was invited to Gum Treez once, every opportunity that I could go to Gum Treez, I did. There food are great and the waiters are there for you on the wave of a hand, and the whole time walking around to see if customers need anything. The thing that I liked most was that Gum Treez is situated in a life style center with many shops that one can explore. I am not from the area and can only imagine what a great experience this can be for oversea guests. The prices are also very affordable. They also have great specials. One can taste in the food that the chef is an expert.

What a great bar and restaurant in the Castorbridge shopping centre. Really nice outdoor area under the trees. There is a nice selection of craft gins and beer. The food was also excellent.

Wow where to begin!!!! Firstly great and friendly waiters!! Always friendly and ready to assist!! Atmosphere is always relaxing and fun!! They made so much effort for me and my boyfriends night out!!! No issues nothing, nicely dined table , with so much effort and detail into it , personalising the last page on menu, and everything!! So much effort for their customers and they do it with a smile!! One of the best places I'd recommend for a night out or a date night!!!
